Additional learning support
At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every student is prepared to learn. We provide support for students with disabilities and additional learning needs, enabling them to participate in all aspects of school life. A formal diagnosis is not required for your child to receive support in a mainstream classroom, and assistance can be initiated at any stage of their education.
Supporting each child
Some students require additional support to build confidence and perform their best in school. We collaborate closely with students and their families to create tailored support plans that meet each child's unique needs.
Additional learning support may include:
-
Collaboration between teachers, support staff, student and families.
-
Programs designed for high potential and gifted students to address their advanced learning needs.
-
Small group tutoring focused on targeted literacy and numeracy support.
-
Regular check-ins to evaluate and update support plans.
-
Extra guidance, individualised learning goals, or varied lesson focuses.
-
Learning and assessment adjustments, such as:
- Extended time
- Simplified language
- Breaks during tasks
- Alternative task completion methods (e.g., oral presentations instead of written assignments).
We identify when a student needs assistance through:
- Observations of changes in learning or behaviour by teachers.
- Analysis of assessment results and learning progress.
- Concerns raised by parents and carers.
Adjustments are planned in partnership with parents and carers and are regularly reviewed and modified as necessary. If you think your child may require support, contact us.
